Description of the package Timber raft 2 nights
Day 1: Check-in
Between 3 and 8 pm you can check in at Klarälvens Camping, where you stay the first night in a tent that you receive upon check-in. (NOTE! Sleeping bags and mat are not included in the tent you get, but you can rent these from us if you book them in advance). It is even possible to rent our cosy, wood-heated sauna on the riverbank.
If you have added a cottage for the first night, you get access to this. Please note that you clean the cottage yourself before the meeting time for your timber raft tour (09.00). You can also add final cleaning if you let us know latest by check-in.
Day 2: Building your own raft
At 9.00 am we meet you at the building site, where we give you an introduction to the adventure. After this, you build your own timber raft with just logs and ropes. The logs you are using are gathered in piles at the riverside, from where you have to roll them into the water. The raft itself is constructed in the water – when this is done, the size will be 3×3 metres and the weight almost a tonne. An experienced instructor will be on hand at the building site.
Note! If you arrive by car, please drive the car down to the riverside. At the start, or before you set off on the river, you will drive your car to the end of your trip. You park the car and go with our transport back to Klarälvens Camping. It´s just the driver that needs to do this.
Day 2: On the river
Bring clothing suitable for changing weather including rain gear and a full change of clothes. The current makes the raft go forward, but be prepared to use your paddles and pole. Sometimes it is really relaxing and you just go with the stream. Sometimes your full attention will be needed to avoid trees that are hanging out over the river or to not get stuck in an eddie. In these situations, it is very important that all participants on the raft are working together. It also applies to when you paddle to the shore to land the raft and pitch the tent. To paddle the raft out of the current takes time and is hard. You have to plan for this quite a while before you actually come into land. Remember that you are guests in the nature – leave no trace.
Day 3: Finish the tour
You continue your timber raft tour towards its goal at Björkebo, on the eastern bank of Klarälven. Some distance before you reach the final destination, you need to paddle the raft out of the current. When doing this, it is very important that all participants on the raft are working together. When you have reached your destination in Björkbo, you take your equipment ashore and dismantle the raft. Leave the logs in the water – they will float into the log boom. All equipment should be placed/hung in the places shown.
