New hiking trail for the 8-day timber raft package
On the 8-day Timber Raft package, you also have the opportunity to explore the surroundings on foot. Several beautiful hiking trails offer sweeping views of the Klarälven Valley. A new gem among them is the Brattås Trail.
From the shop in Ambjörby, you follow paths and country roads up to Brattåsen. At almost 500 metres above sea level, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view—and you might even spot your raft, safely moored along the banks of the Klarälven below.

Brattåsen rises above the Klarälven River
The peaks of Brattåsen and Håksåsen form a clear boundary along the eastern side of the Klarälven valley. At just over 300 metres above the river, you are rewarded with wide, open views in almost every direction. To the southwest in particular, the slopes drop steeply down towards the Klarälven valley.
The hike is a total of 7 kilometres. It begins gently and comfortably, passing several houses and farms along the way. Further on, the settlements thin out, the forest becomes denser, and the trail more demanding. The path then climbs steeply uphill, and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.
The reward awaits at the summit
Those who complete the hike are rewarded with a breathtaking view. Your gaze stretches across both Branäs and Hovfjället, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Norway. Closer by, the bridge over the Klarälven connects the villages of Månäs and Sörnäs. You may even spot your raft waiting along the riverbank below.
A wind shelter with a barbecue area offers a perfect place to rest before it is time to head back down into the valley.
